Police are looking for a pair of bumbling thieves who pistol-whipped a Pembroke Park convenience store clerk during an armed robbery but dropped half their loot before leaving.

The robbery captured on surveillance video happened Monday night at The Food Store on the 2900 block of Southwest 32nd Ave. began poorly as the two masked robbers couldn’t seem to figure out how to get the cash register open.

After the knocking the clerk to the floor, one of the robbers is shown hitting him over the head with his pistol repeatedly as the clerk tried to open the register. The two kept the weapon on the clerk’s head and began a threatening countdown when they felt he moved too slowly, police said.

The thug even took the clerk’s hat and put it on his own head.

When the register is finally opened the thieves grab cash and cigarettes and start to make their way out of the store. But as one of the robbers goes to open the door to make his escape, he drops the bag he stuffed his stolen goods into and leaves without picking it all back up.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the pair were seen by witnesses leaving the scene in a green older model Toyota Camry.

Anyone with info on the robbery is asked to call Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
