A Waterloo man who police say rammed his car into two squad cars, injuring two officers, has officially been charged. Kelvin Plain, Jr., 25, of Waterloo was charged Wednesday with assault on a peace officer with intent to injure, assault on a peace officer using a dangerous weapon and first-degree criminal mischief.

Plain Jr. was found outside his residence at 4045 Niles St. in Waterloo just after 11 a.m. Tuesday and was asked to leave the area. Waterloo Police say Plain Jr. drove away from the residence but returned a short time later, accelerating his vehicle at squad cars.

Plain Jr.’s SUV rammed a police car occupied by one officer, which then hit another police vehicle occupied by another officer. Both officers were transported to Allen Hospital in Waterloo, where they were treated and released. Both are on limited duty, according to Waterloo Police.
